  • Portable Spectrophotometer for Tea Leaves Color Grading

  • Tea leaves is one of the most popular beverages. With the increasing consumption, its quality evaluation becomes more and more important and tea-leaves’ color, smell and flavor are three important points, especially color. 

    Visual method is the traditional color measurement method. Observer will check its color under special light source and then compare it with CIE standard color chart to get its color value. However, visual method is more subjective with some errors and its testing accuracy is limited.
    In order to get the accurate color of the tea leaves for grading, more and more suppliers choose portable spectrophotometer. 

    One tea-leaves manufacturer needs our instrument for grading their products. We recommend our CS-600 portable spectrophotometer to them.     Now we introduce how to measure it.
    1.Prepare Tea-leaves and Powder Holder (Tea surface is rough, which will cause measurement error, so we will use the powder holder to press the tea surface into flat.)

    2. Put the tea-leaves into the powder holder to make sure the flatness of the surface.

    3. Calibrate the spectrophotometer CS-600. 

    4.Then measure the color of tea leaves with portable spectrophotometer CS-600.
    After the test, we will get the following test result. 

    Comparing with visual method, spectrophotometer color measurement method has the advantage of more objective, simple operation and high precision. It greatly helps to improve the efficiency of tea leaves grading.
